About FuturesBench

An independent, free reference for the CFTC Commitments of Traders report, rebuilt every Friday minutes after the release.

What this site is

FuturesBench publishes the weekly Commitments of Traders (COT) data for 107 futures markets: net positions by trader group, the COT index, percentiles, z-scores, week-over-week movers, extremes, and a full history back to 1986 for every market. Everything is derived from the CFTC's own public files and every formula is written down on the methodology page. The site also carries a set of futures calculators, contract specs, a prop firm comparison and broker margin rates, each read from the provider's own published page and date-stamped.

Why it exists

The CFTC publishes the COT report as flat files that are awkward to read and slow to compare across weeks. Most sites that repackage it either charge for history, sit behind a login, or stop at the headline number. FuturesBench keeps the whole series free, shows its work, and publishes the data as CSV and JSON with no keys or limits so anyone can check the numbers or build on them.

How the data is produced

An automated pipeline fetches the CFTC release on Friday afternoons, validates it against the prior week, computes every metric, and rebuilds the site. The release speed page shows how long each step took for every report. When the CFTC corrects a release, the correction is applied and noted. Nothing on the site is a forecast, a signal or investment advice; the disclaimer says what the data can and cannot tell you.

Who runs it

FuturesBench is run by a small independent publisher of public-data reference sites, not by a broker, a fund or a prop firm. The site earns money from clearly marked partner links and from advertising, which never affects what the data says. Questions, corrections and licensing requests go to the contact page.
